Wallets & keys · Lesson 3 of 3
Hot vs cold wallets
A hot wallet is an app connected to the internet. Great for small, everyday amounts.
A cold wallet, usually a small hardware device, keeps your keys offline, so hackers can't reach them online.
Rule of thumb: keep only what you'd carry in a real wallet in a hot wallet, and the rest in cold storage.
Key points
- Hot = online, convenient
- Cold = offline, safer
- Big amounts belong in cold storage
Education only, not financial advice. Crypto is risky — only use money you can afford to lose, and check it’s legal where you live.
