Trading foundations · Lesson 2 of 3
Order types
A market order buys or sells right now at the best available price.
A limit order waits for the price you choose. It often pays a lower 'maker' fee because it adds an order to the book.
A stop-loss closes your trade automatically at a price you set, so one bad trade can't take everything.
Key points
- Market = now, at the current price
- Limit = your price, often lower fees
- Stop-loss = your safety exit
